The Antenna group focuses on the SAR antenna design, simulation and development, in particular for the airborne SAR activities of the Institute, but also for various other applications.
The group’s expertise includes the electromagnetic simulation of high-power radar antennas, the verification and optimization of manufactured samples, the optimization of antenna sittings and their interaction with the environment, as well as the construction of antenna support structures and radomes needed for antenna operation in harsh airborne environments.
The group also operates the Institute’s Compact Test Range (CTR) – a high-precision measurement chamber for antenna characterization and radar cross section measurements. Significant synergies are achieved through the interplay between high-end measurement and sophisticated simulation capabilities.
