Integration Laboratory

Übersicht des Integrationslabor

The integration laboratory enables projects for flight missions. Depending on the on-board instrument’s scientific main goal and the destination of the spacecraft, flight missions are being assembled under various degrees of cleaningness. The integration hall is the place where engineers and mechanics undergo continuous training, and also gain new experiences in terms of innovative technologies and processes. The main goal of the Integration Hall is ta garantuee an environment for  particle-reduced integration, which can be different at various workstations depending on the project. Work with instruments that search on planets for the existence of life requires a special protection from contamination by organisms and viruses. So, for example, facilities for a mission to Mars are under heavy surveillance. For this case within the hall  a special protection zone has been set up which can only be entered with  special protective clothing. Successful missions have already completed in Bremen such as MASCOT, AISat and InSight.
