Usually cryogenic propellants in launch vehicles are stored at the normal boiling point, but the density can be increased by subcooling the propellants. In its most extreme form this results in a mixture of the solid and liquid phases: the slush propellants. Within the Space Launcher Systems Analysis group the possibility of using such propellants in future launch vehicles and the consequences for the entire system design are being investigated.
