The core component of HP³ is an instrumented, electromechanical 'mole', equipped with an active, and a passive Thermal Measurement Suite (TEM-A and TEM-P), as well as a combined accelerometer and tiltmeter (ACTIL), which uses an internal hammering mechanism to penetrate through the ground.

AISat
Die Globalisierung führt zu einer immer höheren Schiffsverkehrsdichte auf den Ozeanen. Um gleichzeitig die Sicherheit im Seeverkehr zu erhöhen, wurde zu dessen Überwachung und Steuerung sowie als Kollisionswarnsystem für größere Schiffe das Automatic Identification System (AIS) seit 2002 verpflichtend vorgeschrieben.
