12. December 2019
The PhD Thesis with the title Wearable-based pedestrian localization through fusion of inertial sensor measurements has been defended on the 12th of December 2019.
Congratulations to Dina Bousdar Ahmed.
20. November 2018
The Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation Conference is a yearly event that gathers researchers, academia and industry from the field of positioning and navigation. This year’s conference took place in Nantes (France) where Dina Bousdar Ahmed was awarded with the Best Presentation for Track A “Ubiquitous Geolocation Technologies”. At this conference, Dina presented her paper entitled 3D loose-coupled fusion of inertial sensors for pedestrian localization.
28. June 2018
Dr. Fabian de Ponte Müller was invited as key note speaker to the 8th International Conference on Localization and GNSS 2018 celebrated last June in Guimarães, Portugal. Fabian presented an overview of the cutting edge technologies to protect vulnerable road users with a talk entitled “Where is your guardian angel? – Locating and protecting vulnerable road users”.
14. November 2017
Last 14th of November our life demo on the topic Cooperative Relative Positioning of Vehicles was hosted by the Next Generation Car Forum (NGC-Forum) at DLR Oberpfaffenhofen.
Two vehicles were equipped with the Cooperative Relative Positioning framework and drove maneuvers in real traffic outside of the DLR campus between Oberpfaffenhofen and Gilching. The visitors of the NGC-Forum 2017 were able to experience life the estimation of the target-vehicle’s position processed in real-time at the ego-vehicle. The influence of the fusion with a radar sensor or the degradation in the vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication could be analyzed in real-time. We showed how a cooperative approach based on V2V communication is able to effectively extend the ranging capabilities of common ranging sensors.

The Helmholtz Association aims to support talented young scientists at an early stage of their career. The Prize acknowledges the recipients' academic achievements to date and encourages them to develop a long-term career in research.
Each year, the Helmholtz Association awards up to six doctoral prizes, one in each of its six research fields: Energy; Earth and Environment; Health; Aeronautics, Space and Transport; Matter; Key Technologies.
Congratulations to Estefania Munoz Diaz for her price in the field Aeronautics, Space and Transport.
18. May 2017
Young researchers award at the 8th Researchers‘ Seminar on May 16 – 18, 2017 at DLR in Berlin supported by ECTRI, FEHRL, FERSI. The Young Researchers’ Seminar is organized every two years in a different European country. The common vision for the seminar is the preparation of a new generation of transport scientists and science based professionals in the area of transport.
Congratulations to Fabian de Ponte Müller.
