The work of the institute is focused on five missions that directly benefit society and industry. These missions form the framework for most of our work. Progress in these missions is achieved by developing the theoretical foundations, by carrying out simulations, and by performing tests and demonstrations using prototypes.
Our current missions are:
“Provide wide-area connectivity at all times even without infrastructure”
“Transmit data collected by aircraft, earth observing satellites, interplanetary probes, and landers”
"Support Europe in developing and maintaining systems best suited to its needs”
“Ensure situational awareness for people and machines, develop autonomous exploration”
