Digitization is bringing about significant technological, economic and social changes. The secure operation of infrastructures and complex systems is highly dependent on the integrity of communication data and sensor signals. Autonomous systems, which in turn rely on data and sensor signals for their perception, are also increasingly penetrating everyday life. The security of systems must therefore already be taken into account in their design (security by design).

  • We create the foundations for the safe use of networked and autonomous systems in aviation, space travel and transport. To this end, we develop concepts and solutions to automatically detect and, if possible, eliminate malfunctions and deliberate manipulation of sensor systems and data.
  • We secure critical infrastructures and systems and thus essential foundations of life and business in a digitized society. With new authentication methods, we enable secure remote access to systems, especially satellites, critical infrastructures and industrial plants, and protect the confidentiality of data with future-proof cryptographic methods.
