SatCom-Simulator

For the development, optimisation and validation of new protocols, algorithms and procedures for satellite communication, the Institute has the so-called SatCom simulator at its disposal. It allows performance simulations at packet level, whereby the transmission channels, interference and the physical layer are modelled very realistically.

The performance analyses can be carried out for individual participants as well as for the entire system with a configurable number and distribution of terminals. The SatCom simulator is used, for example, for: Optimisation of resource and interference management procedures, QoS scheduling, adaptive coding and modulation, encapsulation, on-board switching, validation of new communication protocols such as DVB-RCS2.
