SBDist - Secure and low-latency broadband transmission over short distances

  • Develop a reliable low latency communication and ranging system using software defined radio
  • Build a mmWave frontend that will be mounted on the train coupler surface to enable wireless communication of safety critical information and ranging estimation between train wagons
  • Demonstrate mmWave wireless communication and ranging between train wagons using software defined radios
  • The institute is building and testing its own mmWave frontend. The frontend is tested in the lab using a channel sounder and using software defined radios. Later, the mmWave frontend is evaluated in the railway environment together with the project partners. The institute is implementing and evaluating communication and ranging algorithms using software defined radios.

Development of a reliable and low latency wireless communication and ranging system between train wagons at short distances less than one meter.
