TaFMAC: Study of master athletes at the World Masters Athletics Championships 2020 in Toronto
As part of the 2020 World Master Athletics Championships, which will be held in Toronto from 20 July to 1 August, DLR will continue the MAFS18 study by investigating the health of master athletes on site.
Background of the TaFMAC study
Exercise is recognised as beneficial to health at all ages in life. In contrast to many people who reduce their physical activity with increasing age, master athletes continue to participate in competitive sports, often into their 9th decade of life. The TaFMAC project collects health data of these athletes and contributes to a better understanding of the benefits and risks of competitive sports in old age.
In order to collect this data, on-site studies are carried out at master athletics competitions that are regularly organised and financed by the participating athletes. The focus is on the relationship between exercise training, fitness and age.
The registration for the World Championships in Toronto will be published here shortly.
