Deep Space 2 (PSI 6)

Deep Space 2 (PSI 6)

Deep Space 2 (PSI 6) is a vertically orientated facility. Radiation is conducted with vacuum-UV radiation emitted from an inserted deuterium lamp or Hg low pressure lamp. Due to the compact size of the recipient ultra high vacuum values down to 1 x 10-7 Pa are achievable in short time frames. Over extreme long periods of time Deep Space 2 is nearly maintenance-free. Beyond that a high variety of gas compositions for the simulation of planetary environments are attachable.

General technical specification

Usable inner size D x H [m]: 0.14 x 0.28

Pressure [Pa]: down to 1 x 10-7 with rotary vane pump and turbo molecular pump

Irradiation source: 254 nm monochromatic Hg low pressure, D200 inserted deuterium

Insertible sample wheel
