Participants of the school inside the model of the European space laboratory Columbus
From 2nd to 7th of July 2016 headed by Prof. Dr. Ralf Stannarius, Magdeburg, the physics school Research in Microgravity took place at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef. Topics ranged from hydrodynamics and liquid crystals to plasma physics as well as Bose-Einstein condensation. From the Institute of Materials Physics in Space, Prof. Dr. Florian Kargl and Prof. Dr. Matthias Sperl contributed lectures on the subjects metallic melts and granular matter, respectively. On its last day, the physics school was completed by a visit to Cologne with guided tours in the laboratories of the Institute of Materials Physics in Space as well as the European Astronaut Center.
