The Helmholtz Research School on Security Technologies (HRSST) is a joint program of Technische Universität Berlin and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. (DLR). It is a PhD program about the investigation of the civil security technologies in Germany, which had started in August 2010.
The mission of the HRSST is to contribute to civil security by training and education of excel-lent young researchers in several complementary technological fields of highest importance for global security. Interdisciplinary research projects integrate different scientific and techno-logical field to close the gap between application-driven security implementation and fundamental research. The main objectives of the School are:
Training and education is done in high-level research groups at TUB and at DLR. The re-search groups have a strong background in physics, optical and electrical engineering, in-formation and communication technologies. The members of the faculty of the School and the thesis supervisors are active in different fields of security research and development for many years. This ensures excellent research and education as well as professional training towards practical implementations.
