Middle Atmosphere Dynamics

The research group MACClim (“The middle atmosphere in a changing climate (MACClim) - Reconciling observed and modeled changes in the middle atmospheric circulation and their impacts on chemistry and climate”) investigates the global dynamics of the middle atmosphere in a changing climate.

Greenhouse Gases

The focus of this DLR Young Investigator Group is contributing to the understanding and quantification of anthropogenic greenhouse gas sources, especially of methane and carbon dioxide. We conduct aircraft-borne in-situ studies in selected anthropogenic source areas and complement our observations using remote sensing data and model simulations.

Remote Sensing of the Atmosphere

The goal of the research group is to contribute to a better understanding of the temporal evolution of cloud and aerosol properties as well as to their impact on the radiation budget. To this end we investigate the life cycle of clouds, from their formation until their dissipation, and aerosol transport using satellite remote sensing instruments.

Aerosols and Clouds

This research group aims at the scientific and methodical preparation of the future EarthCARE space mission, especially with respect to its core instrumentation (radar and lidar).
