‘Always well informed, well-positioned and strong – thanks to cohesion’: these are the principles upheld within ‘Net4Society’, a network of national contact points (NCP) from more than 50 countries. The project demonstrates how the socio-economic and humanities sciences (SSH) can benefit from international networks. The NCPs regularly meet at international conferences to pool their experience and knowledge concerning current funding issues. Net4Society speaks with one voice, organising Europe-wide joint activities and developing targeted public relations to promote the accomplishments and increase the visibility of the economic, social and humanities sciences within the framework of EU research, to provide them with a strong and permanent position within its framework and to contribute actively to the European debates on SSH in the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020. Moreover, through specific services and events, Net4Society supports researchers in their search for international project partners.
Since 2008 the NCP Society, located at DLR Project Management Agency, has been coordinating the international NCP network for the programme area ‘Inclusive, innovative and reflective societies’ and promoting the interests of SSH within Horizon 2020. In February 2015 Net4Society received its fourth round of funding, and is therefore in a position to continue its success story for four more years thanks to the nearly 3 million euros of support from the EU.
