The foundations for successful learning are acquired during the early years of life. Early childhood education is therefore key to advancing the cause of equal opportunities. Well-educated specialists improve the quality of education – in nurseries and schools, and on to universities and higher education. High standards of support foster individual skills and help recognise special needs at an early stage.
For instance, the aim of the Federal Government and the States’ ‘Education through language and writing’ (BiSS) initiative is to improve standards and provide more individual language and reading support for children. In addition, a focus on art and culture during childhood opens up new channels for personal development and an active life-style. Hence, the professionalism of teaching staff involved in arts education is becoming increasingly important. This is why the ‘Quality Campaign for Teacher Training’ is aimed at introducing a more practical teaching approach and at strengthening the ties between degree courses, teacher training and further education.
On an international level, education and knowledge – and increasingly vocational training as well – have been identified as drivers of innovation, economic growth and prosperity. Promoting the export of vocational training allows German providers of educational and training services access to this fast-growing, international market.
At the DLR Project Management Agency, we support programmes and initiatives in all of these areas. We advise our clients in the design of measures to fund research and provide assistance during implementation and transfer of results into practice.
