An open educational system and scientific excellence play key roles in the well-being of each individual. Now, in times of increasing integration, we face the challenge of creating equal opportunities for all citizens, particularly those who lack basic education and require assistance and individual support. For this to succeed, we require integrative and family-friendly programmes and initiatives within the education sector – from early childhood education to primary / secondary school, apprenticeships/degree courses, and finally the professional world.

These initiatives must be designed in dialogue with citizens to ensure the creation of an education system that is fair from all perspectives. After all, educational opportunities need to be transparent and easily accessible if they are to reach larges parts of the population. Here, empirical education research provides important fundamental data for educational and social policies. At the DLR Project Management Agency, we use our long-standing expertise to support research design as well as practical application of research results. All the programmes and initiatives we assist share a common goal: to ensure the quality of life and power of innovation in Germany in the long term.
