Inadequate safety measures can quickly turn ICT systems into gateways for the theft of electronic data or for cyber attacks via the Internet. Therefore, adept precautionary measures are becoming increasingly important, helping to bolster trust in the safety and integrity of the digital world. But the complexity of IT security requirements is growing as more and more levels of business activities become networked. These requirements must remain manageable for all companies.
This is why the German government’s digital agenda includes measures to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in their secure use of ICT systems. Our experts are helping to accomplish these goals within the ‘IT Security in Business’ initiative. Our know-how allows us to provide technical and practical assistance in the form of model and transfer projects or the initiative’s web presence.
The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung launched a new research programme in 2014 with our assistance. Its purpose is to ensure that IT security expertise remains here in Germany. The programme focuses on new ideas and innovative solutions that should benefit SMEs in particular. It provides funding to projects at universities and other research institutions in the Baden-Württemberg region. The DLR Project Management Agency also supports the projects within this research programme.
