MOMS-2P



 

MOMS-2P, mounted on the MIR space station on 5 May, 1996

Taking part in the Russian PRIRODA program, GSOC acted as remote Payload Operations Control Center (POCC). According to scientific and commercial observation requests GSOC operated the German Modular Optoelectronical Multispectral / Stereo Scanner (MOMS-2P) attached to the PRIRODA-module on the MIR space station. The MOMS Scanner was mounted at the Space Station MIR on 5-may-1996. Earlier versions of which flew successfully on the Space Shuttle missions STS 7, STS 11 and D-2 (STS 55). The images are used for studies in geology, ecology, agriculture and other disciplines. The users were no longer limited to scientists also commercial customers were interested.
