The island of Vanna in centre of the image lies north of the Arctic Circle in northern Norway, about 250 kilometres southwest of the North Cape. The structure of this very undulating island is illustrated by the diagonal radar image particularly clearly, which before processing, was geometrically distorted. After correction, the distortion was eliminated.
Just as clearly recognisable are the "structures" in the water, which are caused by different wave heights as they lie in the lee of the islands. Even isolated boats can be seen and along the coast, individual houses appear as bright points.
