Introduction
The Perception and cognition department of the DLR’s Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics center researches and develops perception methods for robotics, including planetary, orbital, service and industrial robots. Currently, the department is looking for a student who will support an autonomous on-orbit servicing team of the robotics institute. The successful applicant will support the team in the following range of topics: development of a 3D object detection and pose estimation method, Dataset collection using the ASTOS camera simulator. Furthermore, You will perform extensive tests on existing datasets and possibly will help the team during scientific data collection campaigns on our on-ground experimental facility shown in Fig. 1. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a cutting edge topics such as computer vision and deep learning, and gain hands-on experience on a real system.
