Georges Giralt PhD Award for DLR doctoral dissertation
Teodor Tomić received the prestigious Georges Giralt PhD Award for the best doctoral thesis in robotics in Europe. The dissertation, which was produced at the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics and defended at the University of Hannover, bears the title Model-Based Control of Flying Robots for Robust Interaction under Wind Influence. Thus, the former DLR scientist is already the fourth doctoral student from the institute in a row to receive this award.
The Georges Giralt PhD Award is a European dissertation award for outstanding achievements in the field of robotics. It is granted annually at the European Robotics Forum by the Brussels-based non-profit organization euRobotics AISBL. The awardee’s dissertation is published in the Springer Tracts in Advanced Robotics book series.
The awarding institution euRobotics AISBL represents the academic as well as the industrial field of European robotics with around 280 member organizations. In addition, euRobotics AISBL acts as the official interface between the European Commission and Europe’s academic and industrial robotics.
All doctoral candidates whose dissertation in the field of robotics was successfully defended in the awarding year at a European university are eligible for the Georges Giralt PhD Award.
