The Space Debris Viewer is a sub-project of the project „Processes for improved detection, positioning and tracking of orbital objects“. It aims to visualize space objects from the BACARDI database in a browser. It is based on the THREE.js library for visualization.
You can enter a search term in the search field below in order to find specific objects and their orbits. Some examples:
ISS (the International Space Station) Astra (TV satellites) Galileo (European GPS satellites) Navstar (international GPS satellites) Glonass (Russian GPS satellites) CXO (x-ray ssatellite)
Moreover, it is possible to filter objects by several stored properties. For a selected object, the properties and if known links to further information are displayed. Additionally, an orbit prediction is calculated by the SGP4-model.
The object locations are shown in correct proportion to the earth. Furthermore, the right position of the sun is displayed, including the twilight zone. The moon is also shown, but the position still needs to be adjusted. By symbols payload/satellites, rocket bodies and space debris can be distinguished.
