Applications for traineeships as part of a course of study or professional training are handled by the human resources offices at each DLR location.
Information for Pupils
The application should include as a minimum:
- Cover letter
- Biography
- The latest school certificate(s)/report card(s)
- Questionnaire (see below)
You are requested to supply a short letter indicating the dates desired for you traineeship as well as the particular institute or field, for example, "ratio technology".
If you have letters of recommendation, certificates about course participation, etc, please include them as well. Submit only copies and enclose everything in a folder, since we will be sending your application around successively to various institutes. We do not accept email applications.
Please inform yourself in advance about the work carried out at the various institutes and facilities at the location you are interested in by consulting their Web site.
The questionnaire will help us to judge whether your ideas about the traineeship can be matched with the various subjects dealt with at our different research centers.
Please send your application to the particular DLR_School_Lab you are interested in. If you want to apply for a traineeship at a location without a DLR_School_Lab, please contact the local human resources department there.
Traineeships are usually carried out in working groups at the institute or facility. Not all of them can offer traineeships year-round. Far more people are interested than the number of available places, so do apply early.
It can take some time to process your application, but we will inform you as soon as we have received it. It would be useful, although not essential, if you could give us your email address.

Bremen
Instead of standard, career-oriented traineeships, DLR_School_Lab Bremen offers a so-called autumn traineeship for ten students in the ninth grade or above. In the framework of this optional traineeship during the autumn school break in Bremen and Niedersachsen, specially conceived lectures and workshops are provided daily for two weeks. Although this programme is, in general, not a substitute for a career-oriented traineeship, it may in some cases be recognized by school authorities.
