How can traffic noise be reduced? You can find answers to these and other interesting questions at DLR_School_Lab Braunschweig. For one exciting day you yourselves carry out the research.

Today's research benefits our future life! One of the primary goals is better management of our planet and its available resources, which require careful use: DLR is making an important contribution in Braunschweig. For example, we are investigating how airplanes can manage in the future with less kerosene than they require today. And improving the aerodynamics of aircraft and using new, lightweight materials for their construction help to reduce fuel consumption even further. The noise caused by aviation is also a subject of our research. How can it be reduced in order to lessen the burden on people living near airports?

In order to further increase aviation safety, we want to provide air traffic controllers and pilots with innovative instruments and assistance systems. Safety is also a topic for road traffic. DLR is developing and testing new assistance systems for tomorrow's "intelligent cars" which can warn tomorrow's drivers about dangerous situations, thus avoiding accidents.

DLR_School_Lab in Braunschweig investigates many topics related to transportation: whether on the road, rails, or in the air. In various experiments, school classes can acquaint themselves with the research topics being studied at the science institutes at DLR Braunschweig.
