Die Heliostat-Testplattform bietet Forschungs- und Industriepartnern eine Möglichkeit, ihre Heliostaten auf dem Gelände des solarthermischen Versuchskraftwerks in Jülich aufzubauen und von Spezialisten des DLR unter realen Betriebsbedingungen präzise und einheitlich vermessen zu lassen. Die langjährige Erfahrung des DLR im Bereich der Qualifizierung von Solarkraftwerkskomponenten wird eingebracht, um zu einer Wirkungsgradsteigerung und somit zur Heliostatkostenreduktion beizutragen.

High Temperature Laboratory Stuttgart (HITS)
In solar thermal power plants, the concentrated solar radiation generates very high temperatures. Therefore the used components have to be particularly heat-proof. Whether they are suitable for the use under extreme temperatures can be tested in advance in the laboratory. The High Temperature Laboratory Stuttgart (HITS) of the Institute of Solar Research provides a suitable infrastructure for this kind of testing.

REPA-Testanlage: Realitätsnahe Tests von flexiblen Rohrverbindungen
Flexible Rohrverbindungen (REPAs) werden in Parabolrinnenanlagen zur Verbindung von feststehenden Rohrleitungen und sich bewegenden Kollektoren eingesetzt. Sie sind durch die hohe Temperatur des Wärmeträgerfluids, wiederholte mechanische Beanspruchung und konzentrierte Solarstrahlung hohen Belastungen ausgesetzt. Die langfristig zuverlässige Funktion dieser Baugruppen ist essentiell für den sicheren und störungsfreien Betrieb jedes Solarfeldes.

SOPRAN - Test facility for solar process heat systems
Located at DLR in Cologne-Porz, this test facility is especially being used for demonstration purposes and performance tests with line focusing collectors. It was constructed in 1999 and has been regularly expanded ever since.

The name SoCRatus stands for “Solar Concentrator with a Rectangular Flat Focus“. This test facility was developed for experimental studies with photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical systems under concentrated solar irradiation and was installed in 2012/2013.

High temperature reactor systems - various possibilities for application in thermochemical processes
In a high-temperature reactor, technologies for chemical reactions at high temperatures are demonstrated. The high temperatures, usually above 500 °C, are reached by integration of concentrated solar radiation.
