The Institute for Solar Research participates in the EU project SFERA-3 as organiser and participant in the annual Summer-/Winter Schools for young scientists and students as well as in the Sollab PhD colloquia taking place in the same week. Both events are organised annually alternating between the project partners of the SFERA-3 consortium.
The aim of this one-week double event is to strengthen the cooperation between the European research centres, to exchange knowledge, to establish and maintain social and scientific contacts between the scientists, and thus to contribute to a unification of the goals and priorities for European science in the CSP field, and to use the European infrastructure effectively. Participants and selected international experts will report on their research approaches and results in short presentations. This will stimulate a lively exchange of experience and knowledge between the participants.
The Sollab Alliance (Alliance of European Laboratories for Research and Technology on Solar Concentrating Systems) initiated the series of doctoral colloquia in 2004. Within the framework of the EU projects SFERA, SFERA-2 and SFERA-3, the colloquium is continued together with the Summer or Winter School for students.
