Manufacturing carbon fibre reinforced parts requires a high level of accuracy. If the manufacturing processes are automated by utilizing multi-robot production cells, elastic deformations of the robot components and their supporting frame lead to negative effects, including positioning errors. At the Institute of System Dynamics and Control, methods are developed to compensate these elastic effects. This is realized with detailed simulation models, high-precision measurement equipment, and real-time control algorithms, which are implemented and tested at DLR’s Center for Lightweight-Production-Technology.
