The research is supported by continuous development of modeling and simulation tools. In particular, vehicle system modeling is one of the core areas of expertise of the institute, taking full advantage of the multidisciplinary Modelica modeling standard. These models are used in the design, optimization, simulation, test and evaluation of the developed automotive control and estimation algorithms. The algorithms developed by the institute are implemented, validated in model-, software- and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments, and experimentally demonstrated on real vehicles. They comprise the ROboMObil, the so-called SC3-Bulli which is described in the context of vertical dynamics control, and other platforms shared with the institute’s partners (e.g., OEMs and suppliers) in different research projects.
