Closed-loop economy in lightweight construction

Sustainable use of resources and the avoidance of environmental damage is one of the biggest challenges facing our society. In the operational phase, lightweight structures make a key contribution to lowering fuel consumption in all fields of mobility, particularly in aviation. Furthermore, the concept of a closed-loop economy addresses the entire life cycle of a product. At present, fibre composite structures are mainly intended for onetime use.  Therefore, our research in this strategic field aims at developing and assessing technologies that break new ground without waste and emissions from material to construction and production through to recycling.
