The Urban Traffic Research Laboratory is a heavily frequented 1.2 km long stretch of road in Berlin-Adlershof, used for measurement and testing. The UTRaLab is used for researching and testing new and more powerful methods of recording and controlling traffic under real-life conditions. Traffic detectors (induction loops, digital and analogue video sensors) and environmental sensors (weather stations, visibility sensors) are installed on several signage gantries.
