The Institute of Transportation Systems develops methods and tools for improving the efficiency of transportation tasks through automation, develops the digitisation and simulation processes which are necessary for this purpose and applies it – with the aim of increasing sustainability whilst simultaneously ensuring mobility – to the application domain of airports.
The special characteristics of airports with regard to international trans-shipments, the necessary flexibilisation of goods and passenger flows as well as the landside connection to the increasingly digitally-controlled transport chains form the points of contact for the tool and method chains of the Institute of Transportation Systems. The solutions of the Institute are thereby becoming increasingly domain-independent, with the result that in the future, it will be possible for transitions to other application domains to be designed in a more flexible and barrier-free manner, thereby facilitating efficient and sustainable solutions.
