Fuel Cell Research at Oldenburg

Responsible: Dr. Alexander Dyck

Contact: Peter Wagner, Dr. Corinna Harms

At our site in Oldenburg we handle all fuel cell technology related issues regarding a successful market launch. In addition to performance optimisation, system durability is also an important factor in the analysis of profitability of fuel cell components and systems. With our expertise in application conditions, we make a significant contribution to the implementation of new system approaches through new components and materials.

In order to further reduce costs, we create innovative material concepts for systems and components. We also develop innovative catalysts and membranes together with our cooperation partners and test these in our laboratories. Further product developments are supported by transfer into industry with innovative processes and standardized testing procedures.

Specific research and development topics are:

  • Understanding of High Temperature PEM Fuel Cells from materials to systems

  • Alkaline membranes and ionomers for energy application in fuel cells, electrolysis or synthesis as well as redox-flow batteries optimisation and testing

  • Characterisation to describe material properties and their influence on the application to obtain a deep understanding of degradation under system operating conditions
