Research and development

• Development of alternative salt mixtures to reduce or increase the operating temperature beyond the state of the art
• Salt purification and salt stabilization of chloride and nitrate salt systems as heat transfer and/or storage media
• Interaction of liquid salt with the gas phase
• Interaction of liquid salt with solids or material compatibility and metallic corrosion
• Qualification of liquid salts for new fields of application: Direct contact process with solids (e. g. biomass) or gases, liquid metal batteries, process temperature control with liquid salt as heat carrier

• Thermoanalysis laboratory for thermochemical investigations
• Wet chemistry laboratory for salt post-testing
• Autoclave laboratory with test rigs for process development
• Modelling of material systems with respect to equilibrium and kinetics
