Getting to the Institute of Networked Energy Systems

The Institute of Networked Energy Systems occupies two buildings located in Oldenburg in north-western Lower Saxony and also has an office in Stuttgart. Building A of the Institute is located directly on the University of Oldenburg’s natural sciences campus, situated in the city’s Wechloy district. Building B is located centrally in the pedestrian zone in Oldenburg city centre. In addition, around 40 of the institute’s staff are based at the Stuttgart Engineering Park (STEP), not far from the University of Stuttgart’s Vaihingen campus. All destinations can easily be reached by train, bus or car; individual parking spaces, car parks and stops and stations are situated in the direct vicinity of the institute buildings.

Getting to Building A | Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße 15 | 26129 Oldenburg

…by train and bus:

By train to Oldenburg’s main railway station (Hbf. Oldb.)
From the central bus station ZOB (north exit) at the main railway station, take the 306 bus (“Universität”) from bus platform A to the final stop, “Uni / Campus Wechloy” (journey time approx. 14 minutes; the destination stop is approx. 30 metres from the Institute building).
Alternative: From the main railway station, take the RegioSBahn light rail service to the next stop, Oldenburg-Wechloy (RS 3 towards “Bad Zwischenahn”). Walk 700 metres along Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße to the Institute building.

…by car:

From the north: Take the A29 and A293 motorways to the A28. Take exit 12 Oldenburg-Haarentor and follow the Ammerländer Heerstraße heading out of the city for about 1.2 km. Turn right into Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße. The free Campus Wechloy car park is located near the Institute building.
From the south: From the A28 or A29 motorway, take the A28 in the direction of Emden/Leer at the Oldenburg-Ost junction. Take exit 12 Oldenburg-Haarentor and follow the Ammerländer Heerstraße heading out of the city for about 1.4 km. Turn right into Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße. The free Campus Wechloy car park is located near the Institute building.
From the west, take exit 10 off of the A28 motorway to Oldenburg-Wechloy. Follow the Ammerländer Heerstraße heading into the city for about 800 metres and turn left into Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße. The free Campus Wechloy car park is located near the Institute building.

Getting to Building B | Markt 4-5 | 26122 Oldenburg

…by train and bus:

By train to Oldenburg’s main railway station (Hbf. Oldb.)
From the central bus station ZOB (north exit) at the main railway station, take the bus to the Schloßplatz stop (e.g. bus lines 301, 314, 318, 322 or 329; all from bus platform B; journey time approx. 4 minutes)
Then walk approx. 200 metres across Schloßplatz towards Rathausmarkt. Building B is located directly opposite St. Lambert's Church (Lambertikirche).
Alternative: Walk approx. 800 metres from the main railway station (south exit) towards Rathausmarkt. Building B is located directly opposite St. Lambert's Church (Lambertikirche).

…by car:

From the north or west: On the A28 (travelling beforehand via the A29 and A293 motorways as applicable) take exit 12 Oldenburg-Haarentor, follow Ofener Straße approx. 1.3 km towards the city, then turn right into Theaterwall. Then follow the instructions on the parking guidance system. Convenient parking is available e.g. at the Parkhaus Schlosshöfe, the Parkhaus am Waffenplatz, the Theater Garage or the Parkplatz Theaterwall (parking charges apply to all). Then walk towards Rathausmarkt. Building B is located directly opposite St. Lambert's Church (Lambertikirche).
From the south: From the A28 or A29 motorway, take the A28 in the direction of Emden/Leer at the Oldenburg-Ost junction. Take exit 13 Oldenburg-Eversten, follow the main road (becomes Gartenstraße) approx. 1.5 km towards the city, then turn right into Schloßwall. Then follow the instructions on the parking guidance system. Convenient parking is available e.g. at the Parkhaus Schlosshöfe, the Parkhaus am Waffenplatz, the Theater Garage or the Parkplatz Theaterwall (parking charges apply to all). Then walk towards Rathausmarkt. Building B is located directly opposite St. Lambert's Church (Lambertikirche).

Getting to Building STEP-2 | Curiestraße 4 | 70563 Stuttgart

…by train and bus:

By train to Stutttgart’s main railway station (Hbf. Stuttgart)
From there, take the S-Bahn to the stop “Österfeld” (S1, S2, S3; all from platform 101; journey time around 12 minutes)
Take the “STEP” exit from the S-Bahn station and walk along Zusestraße for about 200 metres. Then turn right into Wankelstraße and turn right again into Curiestraße. At the end of the road on the right hand side you will find the building with the number 4 which is where the offices of the Institute of Networked Energy Systems are located.
The reception is on the third floor.

…by car:

From the north: From the Leonberg junction, follow the A81 motorway towards Stuttgart. At the Stuttgarter Kreuz junction, take the A831 towards Stuttgart-Vaihingen/Stuttgart-Zentrum. Leave the motorway at the Unterer Grund exit, turn right at the first set of lights and drive as far as the roundabout. Take the first exit for Wankelstraße and immediately turn right into Curiestraße. Follow the road to the building with the street number 4. Visitors can park in the space marked “DLR” to the right of the building.
From the south: From the A81 motorway at the Stuttgarter Kreuz junction, take the A831 towards Stuttgart-Vaihingen/Stuttgart-Zentrum. From the east: Follow the A8 motorway towards Stuttgart. At the Stuttgarter Kreuz junction, take the A831 towards S.-Vaihingen and then the B14. Leave the motorway at the Unterer Grund exit, turn right at the first set of lights and drive as far as the roundabout. Take the first exit for Wankelstraße and immediately turn right into Curiestraße. Follow the road to the building with the street number 4. Visitors can park in the space marked “DLR” to the right of the building.

…by plane:

From Stuttgart Airport, take the S-Bahn as far as Österfeld (S2 or S3; from platform 2 in each case; journey time around 12 minutes)
Take the “STEP” exit from the S-Bahn station and walk along Zusestraße for about 200 metres. Then turn right into Wankelstraße and turn right again into Curiestraße. At the end of the road on the right hand side you will find the building with the number 4 which is where the offices of the Institute of Networked Energy Systems are located.
