Professional activities
The focus of her scientific work is the empirical analysis of mobility and travel behaviour. The focus is on people with their needs, individual socio-economic conditions and specific behaviour patterns, taking into account fundamental social changes such as digitalisation and demographic change. Using the quantitative and qualitative methods of empirical social research, Claudia Nobis has investigated multimodal behaviour, car sharing, the development of cycling and public transport as well as mobility in rural areas, among other things, in recent years. In addition, she is working on the development of new, GPS and sensor data-based methods for surveying mobility behaviour as part of the MovingLab.
Claudia Nobis has led a number of studies and projects. She is currently leading the project "MOBITAT 2050 - A Sustainable Mobility for Commuters of the Future" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the project "Development of a Sufficiency Strategy for the Transport Sector and its Successful Communication" funded by the Federal Environment Agency, and the DLR panel study on the effects of the Corona pandemic on mobility behaviour. Within the framework of the study "Mobility in Germany 2023" commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport, she is responsible as a member of the management team for, among other things, the preparation and basic evaluation of the data as well as the preparation of the reports.
