Professional activities
Johannes Gruber has been a research associate at the Institute of Transport Research since 2011. His research interests focus on issues of efficient and sustainable freight distribution in urban areas. He investigates the use of innovative vehicle and logistics concepts, the decision-making behavior of the actors involved, economic and ecological effects, and options for action for the public sector and industry. One area of expertise in which he has contributed significantly to scientific knowledge is the commercial use of electrified cargo bicycles. Mr. Gruber designed and coordinated several research projects for the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and the German Federal Ministry of Transport, including Europe's largest public cargo bike test with 750 companies participating in the long-term experiment ("Ich entlaste Städte") or the TRASHH project in cooperation with Stadtreinigung Hamburg.
