Materials Colloquium 2021 - Report

07 December 2021

Unprecedented 175 national and international attendees made the annual DLR Materials Colloquium a big success!

Ceramic Matrix Composites – What are key challenges for large scale application in aerospace?

Experts from Industry and research gathered virtually at the Institute of Materials Research to present and discuss their latest achievements, but also challenges in the development and industrialization of ceramic matrix composites (CMC) for aerospace. A big challenge for this class of materials is a very complex process chain from materials to production, requiring a holistic approach for successful transfer of research and technology into industrial application. It is common sense that digital tools to be employed along the entire process chain can accelerate development and foster application of CMC in aerospace and beyond. Many thanks again to all our online guests, we hope to meet you in person soon again, maybe at the next Materials Colloquium on Dec. 6th, 2022!
