The Institute of Materials Research congratulates Ronja Anton on the successful defense of his dissertation entitled "Integrated design of an environmental barrier coating system for Mo-Si-based alloys by PVD technologies" at RWTH Aachen University in the department of Prof. Jochen Schneider. Within the last four years, she worked in the high temperature and functional coatings department where she was supervised by Dr. Nadine Laska and Prof. Uwe Schulz. Her thesis was conducted under a DFG grant (https://gepris.dfg.de/gepris/projekt/386184182) in close collaboration with her partners from the Institute for Applied Materials (IAM-WK), KIT in Karlsruhe and the Siegen University. Within the project, a holistic material system consisting of substrate material with protective coatings for novel Mo-Si-based alloys was successfully developed to be used in aircraft engines at extremely high temperatures.
