High-speed Testing Machine

A High-speed Testing Machine is available for the determination of mechanical material properties as well as for the investigation of structural components and their failure behaviour. Loading of a material or a structural component can be realised up to 500,000 times faster compared to quasi-static loading in a standard test machine.

Measured quantities such as force, displacement or strain signals from strain gauges can be recorded using fast transient recorders. High-speed cameras can be combined with digital 2D or 3D image correlation for optical deformation analysis.

Depending on the fixture and test device, test articles can be tested under tension, compression, shear or bend loading.

The tests enable the determination of simulation input data and the validation of transient dynamic simulations. Also, structural components can be tested under crash relevant loading rates to investigate design approaches or crash absorber concepts.
