About Dörte Mehlert
Dr Dörte Mehlert studied physics at the University of Hamburg and completed her doctorate in astronomy at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) on the subject of "Elliptical galaxies in high ambient density: the Coma galaxy cluster". She then spent eight years as a PostDoc at the LMU, the Landessternwarte Heidelberg and the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, mainly working on the chemical evolution of high-redshift young galaxies. Since 2006 she has been responsible for education and public relations at the German SOFIA Institute at the University of Stuttgart.
