About Matthias Reeg

Matthias Reeg studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Berlin, specialising in energy technology, economics and policy, before joining the DLR Institute of Technical Thermodynamics in Stuttgart in 2010 to work on systems analysis and technology assessment. His doctoral thesis focuses on the development of the agent-based simulation model AMIRIS to analyse energy policy instruments and their impact on stakeholders with regard to the market and system integration and refinancing of renewable energies. In this context, he also conducts research into security of supply as well as market, subsidy and regulatory design for energy supply systems with a high proportion of fluctuating power generation technologies such as wind and photovoltaics.

Employed as a research assistant since 2014, he is fascinated by the transformation and sustainability research of complex socio-technical systems, among other things. He is part of the "Integrated Key Topic: Control, Instruments and Governance" working group, which is looking for interdisciplinary solutions for the energy transition.
