Space flight is an integral part of modern life. From space, we can observe, analyze, and understand our home planet. Technology "made in Jena" plays an important role: Sensors and LiDARs by Jena-Optronik keep satellites and spacecraft stable and on track. Optics and electronics by Jena-Optronik support Earth observation and remote sensing to improve our daily life. However, before these can leave Earth, exhaustive tests and checks are necessary to to make sure that despite the harsh conditions in space they can reliably fulfill their function.

On behalf of the Jena-Optronik GmbH, the DLR Institute of Data Science develops a test database to manage and display all results of these environmental tests. The new database will cover the entire portfolio of the Jena space company ranging from individual circuit boards to the final product. It will serve as a central data hub for all collected measurements and, thus, supports a broad range of applications including the generation of comprehensive test reports installed components and the complex analysis of trends in manufacturing quality. With this, the test database is an important step towards the further automation and industrialization in manufacturing components of space crafts!
