The early days of our planet
Four billion years ago, the Moon orbited Earth on a much tighter orbit: our satellite was only a few tens of thousands of kilometres from Earth. As a result, the full moon appeared bright and enormous in the sky and moved quickly. Solar and lunar eclipses occurred frequently.
