The electrification of aircraft engines goes hand in hand with the electrification of aircraft on-board systems. This affects the actuators of the control surfaces, the de-icing system and the aircraft air conditioning system in equal measure. This development poses new challenges for the on-board electrical system and requires intelligent energy management to minimise peak loads.

The OFELIA project is therefore developing a model for the entire electrical on-board network in order to obtain as accurate a picture as possible of the requirements of future aircraft for the generation and distribution of electrical power. In addition to the pure provision of power, issues of safety, reliability and power quality are also of central importance.
