CHEOPS celebrates its birthday
Shortly before Christmas 2019, the European Space Agency (ESA) announced the successful launch of CHEOPS. After the commissioning phase, CHEOPS – CHaracterizing ExOPlanet Satellite – took its first image in February 2020, proving its functionality. The satellite has now been operating flawlessly for six years. The original mission duration was extended by another three years in 2023, and it may be possible to continue until 2029.
