Wind Energy Experiments
The Braunschweig Wind Energy Experiments (WX) facility is a young, growing organisational unit founded as part of the continuation of wind energy research by the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
A wind turbine with a capacity of approximately 500 kW will be modified and instrumented with measurement technology for research purposes. The wind turbine will be procured and erected by the DLR. Additionally, an upstream and IEC-compliant wind measurement mast will be erected to capture meteorological influences. The experimental turbine will enable direct research on a wind turbine. This includes modifications to the rotor, validation of numerical models, or the implementation of experimental control algorithms.
