Mission Technology Department

The Mission Technology department (MIT) coordinates the design, implementation, and maintenance of ground control segments for projects at GSOC.

In particular, this includes design and new and further development (phases B-D) as well as maintenance and continuous improvement (phase E) of the core components of a space operations center: Mission Control and Data System (MCS), Mission Planning System (MPS), as well as analysis systems

In addition, MIT supports the Competence Centers for Responsive Space and Galileo as well as the GfR within DLR with regard to solutions for the further development and maintenance of a ground control segment. Studies are carried out for external partners and individual software components are licensed.

Supporting operational tasks by providing tools and methods is thus the main aspect of the department. Ongoing parallel research and development of innovative systems and methods based on novel techniques, including quantum computing and machine learning, enables preparation for future mission operations challenges.
