Space Flight Technology Department

The Spaceflight Technology department carries out research and development projects in the areas of GNSS-based navigation of spacecraft, rendevous and docking for on-orbit servicing missions, real-time on-board evaluation of payload data and space situational awareness (SSA). Furthermore it provides the Flight Dynamics ground segment for the operational missions.

The focus lies on selected research and development topics of future mission architectures like the operation of multi-satellite systems. The spectrum of space flight missions will henceforth not be limited to monolithic structures in space. Especially the interaction of several spacecraft will be of relevance and represent an extension of the existing operational tasks of the division.

The Space Flight Technology department consists of three mainly reasearch and development oriented groups an the group Flight Dynamics Services.
