Integrated Management System
The Space Operations and Astronaut Training institution has developed a management system that describes and regulates the processes of the institution. The integrated management system includes quality management, occupational health and safety management and information security management.
The workflows and business processes are structured and certified in accordance with the requirements of the international standards DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality management), DIN ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety management) and ISO/IEC 27001 (information security management). Further principles and guidelines which are described in the DLR Quality Management Handbook (QMH-DLR) apply to the Space Operations and Astronaut Training institution.
In addition, the processes and tasks are based on the guidelines of the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS), which are tailored to the operational needs at our institution.

Occupational safety, information security and quality assurance are part of the strategically direction of the institution. Quality management
- Ensuring support in all aspects of quality management (product and quality assurance, risk handling, troubleshooting, configuration management, etc.)
- Implementation of the DIN EN ISO 9001 and ECSS standards in the facility and projects
- Ensuring quality in product development
- Participation in the further development of the DLR management system in the quality working group
Occupational health and safety management
- Ensuring administrative support in all matters relating to occupational safety
- Maintaining the occupational health and safety management system
- Implementing the DIN ISO 45001 specification
Information security managemenr
- Ensuring support in all aspects of information security at DLR RB: Organizational security | Personnel security | Technical security (IT security, physical security)
- Maintenance of the information security management system
- Implementation of the international standard ISO/IEC 27001
